Hope

In rooms of memories and pain, Where wilted flowers fade without love's refrain, There were times when death seemed a refuge true, An escape from desolation that consumed me anew. But now, with distance and the light of day, I see that life is a hymn to hope's sweet sway, Though then, the abyss seemed a void profound, A bottomless pit, without exit or peace found. We idealize what we most desire, And fall into illusion's treacherous fire, When immaturity and naivety entwine, Blinding us to reality's harsh design. But fortunate that I did not die, The times I wished to bid life goodbye, For deep down, life is a river's flow, Ever-changing, moving us toward the shore below. Where wilted flowers bloom anew, And painful memories fade from view, And though the abyss still lies in wait, It's no longer a precipice, but a step forward to create. So thank you, life, for not letting me go, For giving me the chance to learn and grow, And though desolation still exists, I know, It's no longer my companion, but my teacher to show.
